Asslamu Alaikum Brothers & Sisters;

Masjid Al-Mustafa administration recognizes astronomical calculation as an acceptable Shariah method for determining the beginning of lunar months of Ramadan and Shawal. This is in compliance with the adopted policy of The Fiqh Council of North America.

Accordingly, the first day of Ramadan 1445 will insha Allah be Monday 3/11/2024 and as such the Taraweeh prayer will start on Sunday night 3/10/2024 . With the same methodology, Thefirst day of Shawal (Eid Alfitr) will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2024insha Allah.

Please see the attached electronic copy of the Ramadan prayers calendar 1445; in addition to the yearly prayers calendar for those who did not get it before. Additional hard copies will be in the Masjid Foyer area.

Few points to keep in mind:

1-      ImamSalman will be leading the prayer this year insha Allah. AS all of you know by now, he is an excellent Hafiz with an impressive and beautiful recitation capabilities.

2-      A total of 8 Rakaat during Taraweeh prayers will be performed each night followed by shafa and wetr.

3-      After the first 4 rakaat, there will be a 5-10 minutes break.

4-      On average he will recite roughly one Juza (chapter) a day.

5-      We will change the Iqama time weekly (on Saturdays) for Fajr and Isha prayers in 10 minutes increment.

6-      Khatmalquran (completion of the whole Quran recitation) will insha Allah be on the 29th night of Ramadan (i.e the night of Sunday 4/7/2024).

7-      Community Iftar will be held only in weekends during the first 3 weeks; then daily during the last 10 days of Ramadan. We needs lots of volunteers. Please consider volunteering to prepare the set up for and serve iftar & suhur.

8-      StartingSaturday 3/30/2024 (the beginning of last 10 days of Ramadan), Qiamnightly prayers will be held in congregation at the Masjid.

9-      Eid Alfitr will insha Allah be on Wednesday 4/10/2024. More details to come later in the month insha Allah about the timing and location.
