How to pray eclipse prayer
The worshipper recites the opening Takbir and the opening supplication, then he seeks refuge with Allah (from the devil). Then he recites Al-Fatihah, followed by a lengthy recitation. Then he bows, making it lengthy. Then he rises from bowing and says: Sami`a Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka Al-hamd. Then he recites Al-Fatihah again, followed by another lengthy recitation, but shorter than the first recitation. Then he bows again, making it lengthy but shorter than the first time. Then he rises from bowing and says: Sami`a Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka Al-hamd, and stands for a long time. Then he prostrates twice, making each prostration lengthy, and sits for a long time between the two prostrations. Then he gets up for the second Rak`ah, and does the same as he did in the first Rak`ah.
Narrated by Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): The sun was eclipsed at the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out, stood up and said Takbir (Allahu akbar), and the people formed rows behind him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited a lengthy recitation and did a lengthy ruku, then he raised his head and said, Samia Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd. Then he stood upright and recited another lengthy recitation, shorter than the first. Then he said Allahu akbar and did another lengthy ruku, shorter than the first. Then he said, Samia Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd. Then he did sujud. Then in the second rakah he did likewise, until he had completed four rukus and four sujuds, and the eclipse was over before he had finished. (Agreed upon).
