About the Instructor
Hamzah Elhabashy completed the memorization of the Holy Quran at the age of 10, under Sh. Muhammad Nahavandi at Al Huda Hifzh School, and has won several national and international Quran competitions, including placing 2nd in the world at the 19th session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award when he was 13 years old.
Hamzah has ijazaat in Hafs and in the 10 Qiraat (dialects/ways of recitation). The ijazaat are from Sh. Hasan Abunar, Sh. Muhammad ArRaee, Sh. Waleed ElMenessee, Sh. Okasha ElKameny, Sh. Amro Oweida, and Sh. Saleh Abdul Maqsood Saleh. He has memorized the 40 Hadith Nawawi, recorded the full compilation of Sahih Hadith, and is currently pursuing the study of the Seerah of the Prophet (SAW), and Mutoon of Qiraat and Arabic grammar: As-Shatibiyyah, and Al-Ajurrumiyya. He is one of only three people known to have ever recorded the entire Quran using the method of Jam'ah (reciting the whole Quran from start to finish in all 10 Qira'at). He had also had the privilege of being the first American to recite at Hagia Sophia and leading salah in Masjid Suleiman Qanooni in Istanbul.
It has been his privilege to recite to and learn from some of the worlds leading scholars of the Quran including: Sh. Ahmed El Masarawi, Sh. Muhammad Al-Zoubi, Sh. Waleed El-Menesee, Sh. Abdur Rashid Sufi, Sh. Mohamed Jibreel, Sh. Hasan Saleh, and Sh. Saleh Abdul Maqsood.
His sincerest hope is to share what he has learned with others, to help preserve and establish the Quran in their lives, in the community, and throughout the Ummah.
