Statement to the Community
We are very grateful to Imam Shaheed for all of the knowledge and wisdom he has benefited us with during his time as Imam at Masjid Bilal. We thank him and recognize the important impact he has made on the community. Imam Shaheeds current contract ends on December 31st, 2024. For over two months we have been in discussion with Imam Shaheed about the possibility of renewal of his contract. The Masjid board was looking for indications of a long-term commitment from Imam Shaheed, but he could not provide that. The Masjid board understands the importance of an Imam for our community and has already started the process of looking for another Imam. This process will include input from the entire community. Additionally, the Masjid will be hiring a part-time Imam to lead prayers soon. The announcement of the new part-time Imam will be forthcoming in the next week or so inshaAllah.

Note: Masjid Door Unlocks Before Prayer Time
From now on, the Masjid doors will automatically unlock a few minutes before the Iqama/congregation prayer times, in shaa Allah.

Join SHARE Kentucky in Serving our Community
We are excited to share some of the work being done by SHARE Kentucky, a Muslim-run nonprofit based in Masjid Bilals first-ever building in Lexington. The organization is committed to uplifting the community through various programs and services, including:
Food B****ank: Providing essential groceries to families in need.
Employment Assistance: Helping individuals find meaningful work and career opportunities.
Community Garden: Growing fresh, local produce to support our neighbors.
Free Lunch Program: Offering meals to those in need every week.
Additionally, theyre currently working to reopen their free clinic, providing medical care to underserved members of the community.
They are seeking passionate volunteers and leaders to join us in making a difference. Whether it is to help with their food bank, support their garden, volunteer as a healthcare provider at the free clinic, or take on a leadership role, they would love to have you on their team!
