Quran

He said, Do not be afraid. I am surely with you both. I hear and I see.

(Surah Taha, ayah 46)

God is with you. He hears what is in your heart and sees what you are going through. Whatever it is, He will see you through it.

Hadith

It was narrated from Jubair bin Nufair (RA) that a man asked Aishah (RA) about fasting and she said: "The Messenger of Allah used to fast all of Shaban, and he made sure to fast on Mondays and Thursdays."

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 2186, Book 22, Hadith 97)

Fasting in this month is a Sunnah. Maintain your fasts on Mondays and Thursdays if you already practice this and always remain in a state of worship so that whenever your deeds are raised, they are while you are engaged in Ibadah.

13 Things To Do One Month Before Ramadan

Samana Siddiqui

If we reach the blessed month of Ramadan alive and healthy, we are truly blessed. The challenge at that point, insha Allah, is to make the most of this blessed month in a way that will reap us the spiritual rewards and advancement we are seeking (Quran 2:183). We can only do that by planning for the month of fasting well in advance.

While a month may seem like ample time to get things ready for Ramadan, many of us fall into the planning fallacy, not realizing that, in reality, tasks often take longer than we estimate. This is why one month before is an ideal time to start getting everything in order for Ramadan. Here are some things you can take care of now.

  1. At work, put in requests for a schedule change or time off in Ramadan. You can: -ask to come in earlier and leave earlier so that you arrive right after Suhoor and leave before Iftar-arrive late enough to catch sleep in the morning and stay late to finish up work.
-also request the last 10 days of Ramadan off now if you have vacation days you can use.
-request the three days of Eid off .
  2. Request to work from home during Ramadan if you already are not doing so and your work can be completed at home. This way, you at least save time not having to commute.
  3. Get your taxes done. This will not only take care of the task, but it may yield a tax return you can donate part or all of during Ramadan.
  4. Start getting used to a daily Ramadan schedule. Go to bed earlier than usual; wake up at what would normally be Suhoor time (you can perform Tahajjud prayer at this time too); take a short nap in the afternoon. This way, youll have more energy once Ramadan arrives.
  5. Start calculating your Zakat if you normally give it in Ramadan and brainstorm where you will give it this year
  6. Cancel all extracurricular sports and activities in Ramadan if possible. If not, then restrict it to just one activity during the blessed month.
  7. Buy all Eid clothes and gifts. Doing this now gives enough time for everything to reach your home or make changes if necessary.
  8. Finish reading and return all library books or books borrowed to free up time for reading more Quran in Ramadan.
  9. Plan purchases for groceries, clothing, or anything else so that you can avoid going shopping during Ramadan as much as possible.

Atlantic Surf Clam Nutrition Facts

Atlantic surf clam is a bivalve mollusk found along the Atlantic coast of North America, ranging from Nova Scotia, Canada, to the Gulf of Mexico. They are a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, contributing to their popularity among health-conscious consumers looking for nutritious seafood options and are appreciated for their taste, versatility, and contribution to various dishes as well.

Scientic name: Spisula solidissima. They are also known by Surfclam, Hen clam, Bar clam, Sea clam.

Description

Atlantic surf clams are the largest bivalves found in the western North Atlantic. They grow up to 8 inches, although most clams harvested are about 5-6 inches in length.

Their shells are thick, triangular, and yellowish-white with rounded edges and concentric ridges.

Biology and Habitat

Atlantic surf clams inhabit sandy ocean bottoms in intertidal and shallow subtidal zones, typically buried in the sand from the shoreline to depths of around 60 feet (18 meters). These clams prefer sandy or muddy substrates where they can bury themselves and filter feed on planktonic organisms.

Atlantic surf clams reproduce through spawning which typically occurs in late spring or early summer. They can live for 20 years or more.

Health benefits of Atlantic surf clam (Giant clams)

  1. Giant clams are a low-calorie, low-fat seafood choice. 100 grams (3.5 oz) of its lean, white meat contains just 86 calories and 1 gram of fat.

  2. Surf clams are an excellent source of high-quality protein, containing 14.7 grams per 100 grams (26.25% of the RDI). Complete protein with all the essential amino acids is crucial for cell repair, muscle development, and overall growth in the body.

  3. Clam meat is also a moderate source of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Omega-3s are known for their role in supporting heart health, reducing inflammation, and promoting brain function.
