Quran
Surely, the God-fearing will be in gardens and streams:
(Surah Al-Hijr, ayah 45)
Those who act in accordance with Gods laws and look after one another have Paradise written for them. God-fearing means being afraid of displeasing your Lord, which in turn refers to doing good to please Him. When you embark on something, you always keep the outcome in mind. The same way, always think of God and the reward of Paradise and youll find yourself drawn to the right path and doing good at all times.
Hadith
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar (RA): We counted that the Messenger of Allah () would say a hundred times during a meeting:
"My Lord, forgive me and pardon me; Thou art the Pardoning and forgiving One".
(Sunan Abi Dawud 1516, Book 8, Hadith 101)
A beautiful and simple Dua to memorise, share with others and recite. Mercy and forgiveness is reserved for Allah, so ask for it regularly through this Dua and see if you can commit it to heart so that you too can use it a hundred times a day.
Everyone has sinned at some point in their life. Some feel they are beyond redemption. Don't worry, repent and find out how no-one is beyond hope.

Teaching Our Children to Thank Allah
Wendy Daz
When it comes to matters of faith, the most important duty for every Muslim parent is instilling a love of Allah in our children. By nature, human beings possess an inclination toward the worship of a supreme creator, and parents play a pivotal role in nurturing this instinct. Islam teaches that our whole purpose of existence is to worship the one Creator, Allah. We do this by acknowledging His commandments and following the guidance He sent by way of messengers and scripture. Through our example and relationship with Allah, we teach our children the necessary behavior and acts of worship that will eventually become habits. These daily practices form the foundation for an Islamic lifestyle one that is centered on faith and gratitude.
One necessary characteristic of a believing servant is expressing thankfulness. Allah says in the Quran:
So, remember Me, I will remember you. Be thankful to Me and do not be ungrateful.
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:152)
To teach our children how to thank Allah, we must first teach them why we need to thank Him. That is the easy part. There are tangible examples that we can offer young children so they can fully understand the magnitude of blessings we receive on a daily basis:
- We know He created us, this world, our loved ones, the things we enjoy like nature, sustenance, and other beautiful things.
- We must thank Allah for our lives, our bodies, the breaths we take effortlessly, our five senses, our possessions, and our ability to function normally.
- We acknowledge Him for everything good and even the seemingly bad because we know that good eventually comes out of even the worst situations.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Wondrous is the affair of the believer for there is good for him in every matter and this is not the case with anyone except the believer. If he is happy, then he thanks Allah and thus there is good for him, and if he is harmed, then he shows patience and thus there is good for him. (Sahih Muslim)
Once we explain the numerous reasons we should express our gratitude to Allah, our Creator and Sustainer, then we have to talk about how we thank Allah. It may seem that Allah is so much greater than ourselves that our thanks are meaningless in light of His might and glory. However, we should tell our children to never feel worthless or fearful of Allah because, despite His infinite power, He is the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His book with Him upon the Throne: Verily, My mercy prevails over My wrath.
(Sahih Bukhari)

Saffron Mushroom Nutrition Facts
Saffron is one of the highly prized spices known since antiquity for its color, flavor, and medicinal properties. It is the dried "stigma" or threads of the flower of the Crocus sativus plant. It is a bulbous perennial plant that belongs to the family of Iridaceae, in the genus, Crocus, and known botanically as Crocus sativus.
This exotic spice is a native of Southern Europe and is today cultivated worldwide in many countries, particularly in Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Iran, and in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Saffron plant (Crocus sativus). Note lavender color flower and stigma (threads).
Beautiful saffron threads.
The Crocus sativus plant grows to about 15-20cm in height and bears lavender-colored flowers that last from October until November. Each flower features a perianth consisting of a stalk, known as style, connecting to three stigmas or threads to the rest of the plant. These orange-yellow colored stigmas, along with the "style" constitute the "saffron", a prized condiment spice.
The good saffron crop production demands a cold, dry climate with well-drained, rich fertile soil and irrigation facilities or sufficient rainfall. Normally, the flowers are harvested during the early morning hours and soon processed to separate their stigma, allowed to dry under the shade, and graded before being packed for marketing.
Saffron has a distinct flavor that comes from chemical compounds in it such as picrocrocin and safranal. It also contains a natural carotenoid chemical compound, crocin that gives saffron its famous golden-yellow hue. These traits, along with their medicinal properties, make this spice a valuable ingredient in many cuisines worldwide.
Health Benefits of Saffron
-
Saffron contains several plant-derived chemical compounds that are known to have antioxidant, disease-preventing, and health-promoting properties.
-
Their flower pistils compose several essential volatile oils, but the most important of them all is safranal which gives saffron its pleasant flavor. Other volatile oils in saffron are cineole, phenethenol, pinene, borneol, geraniol, limonene, p-cymene, linalool, terpinen-4-oil, etc.
-
This colorful spice has many non-volatile active components; the most important of them is -crocin, a carotenoid compound, that gives pistils their natural golden-yellow color. It also contains other carotenoids, including zeaxanthin, lycopene, - and -carotenes. These are important antioxidants that help protect the human body from oxidant-induced stress, cancers, and infections and act as immune modulators.
-
The active components in saffron have many therapeutic applications in many traditional medicines as antiseptic, antidepressant, antioxidant, digestive, and anti-convulsant.
-
This novel spice is an excellent source of minerals like copper, potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, selenium, zinc, and magnesium. Potassium is an important component of cells and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. The human body uses manganese and copper as co-factors for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Iron is essential for red blood cell production and as a co-factor for cytochrome oxidases enzymes.
-
Additionally, it is also rich in many vital vitamins, including vitamin A, folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C which is essential for optimum health.
