Quran
O mankind, remember Allahs blessing upon you. Is there any creator other than Allah who gives you provision from the sky and the earth? There is no god but He. So, to where are you being turned around (by your desires)?
(Surah Al-Fatir, ayah 3)
We will always be indebted to Allah. Our eyes alone, which were reading this very message with. How often are we thankful for these eyes? The same eyes that can even see the moon over 384,000 km away. Alhamdulillah for such eyesight and for all the other things we take for granted in our lives.
Hadith
Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d (RA): There was a woman amongst us who had a farm and she used to sow Silq (a kind of vegetable) on the edges of streams in her farm. On Fridays she used to pull out the Silq from its roots and put the roots in a utensil. Then she would put a handful of powdered barley over it and cook it. The roots of the Silq were a substitute for meat. After finishing the Jummah prayer we used to greet her and she would give us that food which we would eat with our hands, and because of that meal, we used to look forward to Friday.
(Sahih al-Bukhari 938, Book 11, Hadith 62)
Alhamdulillah for any hand that prepares food for those who worship Allah, be it on a Friday or any day! Make Fridays special by eating a good meal after Jummah and remember to pray for the one who has prepared it for you, thank Allah for providing it for you and saying Alhamdulillah for all the blessings you have.

Ceasefire For The New Year
An invitation to all who desire a stop to hostilities in Gaza:
Come join a peaceful candle light vigil on New Years Eve that calls for a permanent ceasefire in Israel
and Palestine in the New Year.
We will gather embracing the humanity of all people in the region, including equally our Jewish, Muslim,
Christian, Palestinian, Israeli, and Arab siblings, mourning all those who have died in this terrible conflict,
with a commitment to upholding international law universally and rejecting all attacks on civilians. This
includes a shared condemnation of any and all war crimes whether by Hamas, Israels government, or any
other party. We call with steadfast support, for the ending of the occupation and to secure a just peace.
We must call on Israel and Hamas and all parties to this war to immediately cease all hostilities, to release
all hostages and unjustly detained prisoners, to welcome independent international investigation and
accountability for war crimes by any party, to reject war and supremacy and choose instead to negotiate a
political solution that ensures all Palestinian and Israelis may live in equal freedom, security, safety, and
peace in the Holy Land. We must call on the United States, and all governments, to publicly demand and
use every diplomatic, legal, and financial lever to secure such a peaceful, just resolution to this
unconscionable crisis and untenable conflict.
We pray for peace, for healing, for freedom, justice, and reconciliation. We wish most for a ceasefire
NOW.

Overcoming Helplessness and Embracing Hope
Umm Ahmed
A profound sense of helplessness can infiltrate our spirits during adversity and suffering. This sentiment, far from being unique to isolated individuals, is a shared experience witnessed by many grappling with escalating challenges that appear beyond their control. This universal feeling of despair manifests in various scenarios, particularly evident in the pervasive horrors of war, where the shadows cast seem insurmountable, leaving individuals feeling powerless to effect meaningful change from a distance. As we tune into the news, it becomes a deliberate act, exposing ourselves to a narrative that often feels steeped in gloom. The collective sentiment leans towards a poignant acknowledgment of the harsh realities that unfold before us.
Yet, Allah has endowed us with the remarkable capacity to make meaningful choices and exert control over ourselves, provided we make the effort. Undoubtedly, the most formidable battle lies in the struggle against our own selves. We've all uttered the familiar refrain of why me? in the face of life's challenges be it an unfortunate accident, the loss of a cherished one, or the apparent delay in the fulfillment of our heartfelt prayers. Conversely, amid the current global tumult affecting Muslims, the question echoes louder: why us? In response, Allah's wisdom, as articulated in the Quran, resonates:
"Indeed, We will test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him, we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are [rightly] guided."
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:155-157)

Sea Scallops Nutrition Facts
Sea scallops, a variety of bivalve mollusks, are harvested for their raw, cylindrical meat. These prized seafood delicacies are renowned for their sweet yet briny and flavorful taste. Their robust, lean meat offers a fine source of protein that is low in both fat and calories.
Scallops belongs to the family Pectinidae and their scientific name is Placopecten magellanicus. They are also called as American sea scallop, Giant scallop, Atlantic deep-sea scallop, or deep-sea scallops.
Atlantic sea scallops are found in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean, from Newfoundland to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

Description
Sea scallops are bivalve mollusk that live on oceans bottom (benthic) all around the world, generally at depths from 30 to 100 meters (about 100 to 300 feet).
They have distinctive features in their appearance, typically fan-shaped hard shell that comes in various colors. They reach 20 cm (8 inches) in diameter and can live up to 20 years.
Sea Scallop is harvested for the meat of the large adductor muscle that holds the top and bottom parts of the shell together. Raw, the cylindrical-shaped meat is shiny and usually creamy white or tan, though sometimes slightly pinkish to orange in color.
Biology
Sea scallops grow quickly for the first few years of their life and reach about 6-7 inches in length. They can reproduce by age 2 and have a very fertility rate and usually spawn in late summer or early fall.
Habitat
Grown-up scallops live in clusters known as "beds" along the sandy or gravelly parts of the ocean floor. They feed by sieving phytoplankton or tiny organisms from the water column.
Health advantages of Sea Scallops
-
Sea scallop, as a mollusk, offers a low-calorie, low-fat white meat. 100 grams of its lean meat contains just 69 calories and 0.5 grams of fat.
-
Sea scallops are an excellent source of high-quality protein, containing 12.1 grams per 100 grams (22% of the RDI). Protein is essential for cell repair, muscle development, and overall growth in the body.
-
They are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Omega-3s are known for their role in supporting heart health, reducing inflammation, and promoting brain function.
-
Research studies indicate that seafood consumption can reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, obesity, and hypertension. Seafood is low in saturated fat and rich in "heart-healthy" polyunsaturated fat, including omega-3 fatty acids. The American Heart Association recommends seafood due to its diverse range of nutrients, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals that play vital roles in the metabolic functions.
-
Sea scallop meat also provides small but valuable nutrients such as folates, niacin, vitamin B6, thiamin, and riboflavin.
-
Scallops are an abundant source of essential minerals, including phosphorus (334 mg or 48% of the Daily Intake), selenium (23% of the RDI), iodine, calcium, zinc (8% of the RDI), potassium, and magnesium.
-
Compared to some other seafood options, sea scallops are relatively low in mercury, making them a safer choice, especially for pregnant women and young children. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that pregnant women consume at least 8 to 12 ounces (about 340 grams) of seafood with low mercury content per week.
