Program details:
Muslim Parenthood Series is a free new series of monthly talks dedicated for Muslim parents and parents to be. We will carefully craft topics, talks, and interactive activities for parents to promote education and family engagement in a safe environment. In these sessions, parents will hear from community, social, and subject matter experts and researchers, share their experiences and best practices (if they feel comfortable), and ask questions.
Session 2: Speaker: Sr. Ana Elkhessassi, Certified Islamic Psychology Life Coach, Positive Discipline Parent Coach, Holistic Nutrition and Health Coach
Topic: Self Awareness and Parenting
Profile: Ana is the mom of two multicultural and multilingual boys (9 and 5). She is a 1st-grade and 4th-grade ESL teacher at Garfield Elementary School in Revere, Massachusetts, and a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow working on Advocating for teachers' diversity and mental health support for students and teachers. Ana is a Certified Islamic Psychology Life Coach, a Positive Discipline Parent Coach, and a Holistic Nutrition and Health Coach. She earned her BA in special education with two majors in speech and language development and intellectual disabilities from the University of San Sebastian in Chile and an MEd in teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Universidad a Distancia de Madrid. She uses an interdisciplinary approach, including the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, to understand human behavior and navigate the current challenges in raising pious righteous Muslims by using a holistic, action-oriented approach.
