May Allah protect the Ummah from all oppressors, whether internal or external!
Assalamualikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Today is July 6, 2024/ 30 Zul Hijjah, 1445
Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him].
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On behalf of the Board, staff, and member organizations of Majlis Ash-Shura New York, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a blessed Islamic New Year to you, your families, and the Muslim community. As we step into this new year, 1446 Hijri, may Allah SWT guide us, bless us with His Mercy, and grant us peace and prosperity.
The Islamic New Year commemorates the Hijrah, the pivotal migration of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) from Mecca to Medina. This event signifies not only a physical relocation but also a profound spiritual journey that reshaped the world instilling enduring values of faith, resilience, and community. As we reflect on this momentous occasion, let us renew our intentions to embrace faith, perseverance, and solidarity in our lives.
As we embark on this New Year, let us commit to a spiritual migration from actions that displease Allah to actions that earn His pleasure. From division to unity, from ignorance to knowledge, and from indifference to Izzah.
Our hearts are heavy with the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Gaza, enduring unspeakable hardships. They remind us of our duty to stand against injustice and support those in need. Let us also remember the trials facing Muslims worldwide, as we witness the erosion of traditional family values and the rise of alternative structures that challenge our faith and cultural integrity.
As we set our intentions for the coming year, let us unite to serve the community, protect our shared values, and extend assistance to our brothers and sisters locally and around the world. Our strength lies in our unity, our adherence to Islamic principles, and our collective efforts to create a just and compassionate society.
May this Islamic New Year bring a fresh start, renewed faith, and unity in our hearts. May Allah guide us on the straight path, accept our good deeds, and bless us with a successful year ahead.
Aameen.
Sincerely,
