Highlights From Community Events
Interfaith Iftar
ICCP hosted an interfaith iftar attended by many congregations representing Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain faiths. Imam Refai and Imam Tarek spoke about the story of Prophet Isa (AS), the need to work together to fix our fractured union, the Islamic imperative to protect our environment, and prayed for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Many of our friends from other congregations said the ICCP interfaith iftar is one of the highlights of their year. Here are some pictures.
Gaza Relief Efforts by the ICCP Community
ICCP Community member Jehan E. Husseni is actively involved in Bloom Charity in collaboration with the Hayat Washington Foundation. The foundation continues to provide relief to the displaced in the Gaza Strip by providing food in northern Gaza. On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, individual hot meals made from beans were distributed to those fasting during Ramadan. About 400 displaced people benefited from meals in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City.
To provide support, please contact Jehan (+1 202-412-0604).
An ICCP Community Member's Work in Gaza
ICCP community member Mohsin Mohiuddin returned from Gaza after leading a health humanitarian mission through #MeWe International and MedGlobal. TIME magazine featured his work building for youth, families, and healthcare workers in Palestine. See the movie here.
Green Team Launches Ramadan Recycling Patrol Game
ICCP Green Team member Sufyana Johnson developed a fun and educational game people can play on their phones or computers to help them learn what to reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost during Ramadan at ICCP. "There are ten levels to the game, each harder than the one before, representing the last ten nights of Ramadan, and you get to celebrate Eid if you make it through them all, Johnson said.
