Activity Building Project Update
We are pleased to provide the following update regarding the Activity Building Project. Our earlier plan to have the building ready by Eid had a few setbacks due to delays on the part of our contractors. Most of the issues have now been resolved. We anticipate that we will be able to call in the county for a final inspection by the end of July.
Meanwhile, here are key status updates:
Externally:
- We have completed all building infrastructure, the building envelope, and landscaping aspects, as well as campus-wide water, sewage, electrical, and gas requirements.
- Fire safety has been mostly completed except for the installation of rails and ramps, which are being fabricated and will be completed at the end of June. The installation of door and access controls has also been completed.
- The PEPCO power supply line to the transformer and building has been installed, and the final connection for activation/energizing is underway; the generator installation is also underway.
- Installation of the security cameras is underway.
Internally:
- Upper level: The main prayer hall and activity areas have been completed, as have carpeting, flooring, tiling, and lighting, the installation of doors and windows, and audio-visual connections.
- The lower level: The kitchen, rooms, and toilets have been fitted out.
- The air-conditioning fit-out of the building has been completed.
- The elevator installation is being carried out at this time of reporting.
- The sprinkler system installation is also being carried out following county approval of the plan.
Given the above progress, we hope to call in the county for a final Use & Occupancy Inspection in July. It is expected that there may still be some aspects the county may require us to adjust/correct before formal approval.
