With Ramadan coming up it is important to remember why we fast and the importance of fasting. We fast during Ramadan because it is a commandment from Allah SWT and that it is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. Fasting is when we refrain from eating, drinking, and sinning from sunrise to sunset or from Fajr to Maghrib. Before we fast we eat before Fajr. The meal consumed before Fajr is called suhoor or sehri. We eat this meal to help give us the energy that we need to fast for the day. We break our fast after Maghrib and this meal consumed is called iftar. There are many benefits of fasting. Fasting increases our faith and connection to Allah SWT. It also helps us be more grateful for the blessings we have. Fasting has many health benefits and improves our discipline. Ramadan is an important time to increase our faith in Allah SWT and we shouldnt take this time for granted.
