Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Ibn 'Umar announced Adhan for prayer on a cold, windy night. Then added:
Pray in your dwellings; and then said: When it was a cold, rainy night, the Messenger of Allah () used to command the Mu'adhdhin to say "Pray in your dwellings." (Muslim)

A powerful snowstorm with blizzard conditions is expected Friday morning to Saturday morning. We ask Allah SWT to keep everyone safe. When these events happen, it is important we remember that Allah SWT is in charge of everything, and nothing can happen without Allah's permission. These are moments to acknowledge Allah's power and greatness and opportunities to turn back to him in repentance.

I know some people are worried about Jummah, and I want to clarify that if it is not safe to attend, you are not obligated to attend, but please pray Zuhr at your house. This is based on the hadith of the Messenger instructing the muadhin to tell people to pray at home on a night that was cold, rainy, and potentially unsafe. May Allah SWT keep everyone safe and accept from us all.
