ICN SECURITY - COMMUNITY UPDATE - april 4, 2024
Assalamualaikum ICN Community,
Ensuring the safety of ICN community members and our dedicated security team is a top priority for the ICN Board. We want to update the community on recent events and new security measures being implemented at ICN facilities.
An incident occurred at the Ogden facility during taraweeh prayers a couple weeks ago, prompting a security team member to contact the Naperville Police Department (NPD). During the NPD's investigation, footage from an officer's body camera revealed a security team member in violation
of State of Illinois concealed carry laws.
Additionally, multiple complaints were filed against the same ICN security team member with the Naperville and State Police. Concerns about ICN security practices were also raised, with the NPD advising us that they "do not serve us well."
In light of these events, the NPD has recommended that ICN adopt a more discreet approach to security, as was practiced previously. This entails refraining from the open carry of firearms inside or outside of ICN facilities, minimizing visible security attire except for maybe a discreet pin, and
avoiding the use of flashing vehicle lights on ICN premises.
The ICN Board has agreed to adhere to these recommendations and will collaborate closely with the NPD and our security team to conduct a thorough security assessment of the facility in late April or early May. Any necessary changes resulting from this assessment will be communicated
to the community at that time.
We want to reassure you that our dedication to the security of our community and safety of our security team remains unwavering. Though you may notice a less conspicuous presence of ICN security team members, please know that they are still there diligently monitoring the premises with Allah's help for your protection.
ICN remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times. May Allah SWT protect our community. Aameen.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan!
