Assalaamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
 
Election day is this Saturday, June 8, 2024. The venue is ICM GYM and not the banquet hall. In-person voting InshaAllah will start at 10 am and will continue till 11 am or until we go, at the very least, past the quorum.
 
Please carry a valid photoID eg drivers license or state-issued ID. There will be a few people whose identity is not known to any of us sitting at the registration table. So we may ask for your identity.
 
In case of family membership (husband-wife), if you receive this email and your spouse has not, please ask your spouse to add an email address to our neon records (https://portal.icomd.org/login). If your spouse has never opened a neon account, please do so. This will ensure that in the future your spouse also gets an email. It is possible that the primary members spouse may not get an email in spite of having an email in our record. For such and other issues concerning our record system, don't hesitate to get in touch with [email protected].
 
If you did not receive a similar email earlier in the day (few minutes after 12:46 pm), then you are not on the list of eligible voters. If this is not correct, please contact [email protected], and get your record updated. On election day, we may not be able to provide this service, i.e., voting eligibility issue, if our time is being taken up by the election process itself.
 
At the end of this email is the biodata of candidates who are standing for election.

Candidates Biodata
 
Br Hameed Ahmed
For the last one-year Br Hameed has served as Vice-Chair of ICM BOT and is an excellent trustee. He is a dedicated member and is responsible for facility management. During this time, he has exhibited proactive leadership in effectively overseeing all aspects of facility operations, including the management of facility rentals. Prior to his role on the BOT, Hameed demonstrated his commitment to the community through consistent volunteer work in various capacities, including Sunday School, PTA, and ICM Academy involvement. He has consistently shown a willingness to contribute to the growth and improvement of ICM. Br Hameed is kind, humble, hardworking, and approachable. He brings a great attitude to working with others including a passion for meaningful changes and improvements.
 
Mahmud Gani
Br. Mahmud Gani has been an active member of the ICM community for the last 15 years. His unwavering dedication to ICM is truly inspiring. He worked at the ICM Weekend School for close to 10 years, serving first as a Vice-Principal, and then a Principal. Under Br. Mahmud's leadership, the school implemented a new curriculum, streamlined organization, fostered improved student learning, and ensured smooth operations. He has also been instrumental in organizing Tarawih prayers at North Potomac. His proven ability to think creatively, solve problems, and lead effectively makes him a valuable asset and would bring a fresh perspective to the board. Br. Mahmud holds a masters degree in engineering and an MBA. He is currently working in an executive management role for a large healthcare company.
 
Qazi Tariq Lateef
For many years, Br Tariq has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication as a volunteer. He is a very active and dynamic member of our community. His strong leadership skills and innovative spirit are a true asset to our community. Tariq's proven ability to think creatively and lead effectively would be invaluable on the board. He can utilize his abilities, knowledge, and experience to help ICM grow better in every aspect. He led and successfully held multiple large-scale events and activities including an outstanding Eid fair this year. He is a go-getter and wants to get things done. He is very caring and hardworking. He is actively involved in various ICM committees including ICM Academy.
 
Shala Shamim
Sr. Shala is a respectful member of the ICM community, boasting an impressive 25-years as a dedicated and sincere volunteer. Her unwavering commitment is evident through her active involvement in various initiatives, including the Masjid Program & Social Services programs in the past, such as bringing female scholars to talk to ICM sisters about their issues. Presently, she channels her passion into Dawah/Outreach. For the last few years working with outreach committee to host a seminar for MCPS teachers be aware of the Ramadan how it affects our children while they are fasting. She has managed many fundraising dinners for ICM to help raise funds for the new building. Also involved in various Ramadan committees, where her invaluable contributions drive success.
 
Syed Ashraf Ali
Br. Ashraf is deeply passionate about building brighter and stronger Muslim communities for the next generations in the west.  Born and raised in Buffalo, NY he experienced dissatisfaction with a lack of a vibrant Muslim community, but he wanted his family with Allahs permission to be in a better Islamic environment.  However, when he moved to Maryland, he was stunned to see a lack of Islamic schools in the DMV.  Therefore Br. Ashraf is eager to volunteer his time to the establishment of ICM Academy (ICMA).  In addition, he also volunteers his time to ICM Eats and advocates for more programs in ICM.  Using his experience and education, Br. Ashraf currently serves as the operations lead for ICMA and ICM Eats overseeing daily operations, maintenance of systems, and administrative matters.
