Community Member Spotlight
The ICJC Girl Scouts would like to recognize and congratulate Ghada Bishtawi on completing her Gold Award!
Ghada Bishtawi, a junior at Olathe Northwest High School and an ambassador Girl Scout in ICJC's Troop #4162, has earned the Gold Award, **which is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve while in high school!
**Ghada's project was about creating a Muslim Student Association Club at Olathe Northwest High, to build a safe space for Muslim students and to open a discussion about diversity within the Olathe School District. The MSA at Olathe Northwest has been very successful, with people from both Muslim and non-Muslim backgrounds coming to learn and do activities related to Islam. Ghada worked 80+ hours, researching, gathering resources, and communicating with the people around her to create the club. Elected as co-president of the MSA, Ghada connected with other MSA's on a national level, which was a part of her goal to establish a national and global connection through her Gold Award project. Planning to continue leading the club, Ghada will be inviting guest speakers from the ICJC community, creating a Salah room in the school for Muslim students to pray in, and planning many fun and educational activities related to Islam as the schoolyearcontinues.
Congratulations Ghada!
