as'salaamu alaykum,
"Sometimes we eat nothing for days," is what this elderly man told me. Until I met him, I didn't know that it was possible to actually see hunger instead of just feeling it. But having over the last 10 years visited different conflict zones, refugee camps, and areas impacted by natural disaster, I've learned otherwise. This is what real hunger looks like. And right now there are millions of people around the world who are facing even worse - May Allah make things easy for all of them. Ameen.

Your Sacrifice, Their Right
Our Islamic Center at NYU is partnering with Islamic Relief USA on this campaign to bring food to our sisters and brothers in need throughout the world. As we find ourselves in the blessed 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, I ask that each one of you join us in this cause.
Once a year, on Eid-ul-adha, Muslims around the world pay to feed one another through their Qurbani/Udhiya. This year, we are asking you to donate your Qurbani/Udhiya to those who need it most at launchgood.com/ICNYUQurbani2024. People who receive the meat will include widows, orphans, the destitute, the elderly, people with disabilities, and so many more individuals that the world has forgotten.
The cost ranges from $75 to $350 depending the country you pick for the meat to be distributed in. If you aren't able to give that much, please consider giving whatever you can.
Help Feed The Hungry Today With Your Udhiya/Qurbani
I am reflecting on a narration in the Prophetic Tradition of Islam in which the prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, states, The food of one person is enough for two, and the food of two people is enough for four, and the food of four people is enough for eight. I'm asking you all to do your part in feeding our sisters and brothers who otherwise wouldn't just be without meat, but without food all together.
Consider sharing your meals today with those in need by joining our campaign at launchgood.com/ICNYUQurbani2024 and inviting your friends and families to join in as well.
Barakallahu feekum - may Allah bless you and your loved ones and accept from all of us in these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah. Ameen.
- Khalid
