NOTE: All of our in-person halaqas, classes, and events are open to everyone. However, non-NYU community members must submit our Building Access Form prior to arriving. If the form is not submitted, you will not be able to enter the IC building.

Upon arrival, guest will need to present a physical, government-issued photo ID to gain access to the IC building. Photos or digital copies of IDs will not be accepted. No exceptions.

As we're quickly approaching the holy month of Ramadan, join the Islamic Center for a weekly halaqa on Monday evenings at 4pm with Imam Khalid Latif and Sheikh Faiyaz Jaffer. Let's utilize these sessions to spiritually recharge such that we're able to make the best of the most sacred days of the year upon their arrival. Following our weekly discussion circle, the IC will be hosting iftar in our prayer room.

Join Dr. Ali Mermer every Tuesday as he explores the timeless wisdom and profound guidance contained within the wondrous stories in the Holy Qur'an. Dr. Mermer will be delving deep into God's Word and will encourage us to reflect, ask questions, and challenge any doubts about the existence of God. 

Dr. Mermer has been studying the Qur'an to understand its message and apply it to the present day living conditions for half a century and has completed his degrees in Islamic Studies and Political Science and then did a PhD on Sociology of Religion at Durham University, UK.

Join the Latino Muslims at ICNYU and Conver(t)sations groups for a night of Ramadan preparation through community building and thoughtful discussion!*

We'll be discussing ways to set realistic goals and better manage our time during Ramadan, and how to drop bad habits so we can build a stronger relationship with our Creator. Then, for a little fun, we'll be playing a game of Islamic Jeopardy!

KINDLY NOTE: For this event specifically, we are creating a special space for all converts to Islam as well those Muslims who identify as Latino to discuss Ramadan from their points of view as Muslims.

The Latino Muslims at ICNYU was founded in August of 2023 with the goal of elevating the voices of our growing and diverse Latino Muslim community and educating others about our faith, its rich history, and its vibrant expression across so many cultures throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

Convert(s)ations is a convert lead and driven initiative founded in January of 2011, which is dedicated to serving Muslim converts and spiritual seekers who are curious about Islam, as well family members and partners of converts. Our members hail from a richly diverse array of social, ethnic, economic, and faith traditions. Through discussion groups, educational programming, and community events, Convert(s)ations creates unique opportunities for dialogue, education, and reflection, through which converts are empowered to embrace their unique identities and be a source of light and inspiration to all of humanity.
