A Personal Note from Faiyaz
Salaam Alaykum,
I hope and pray you all are doing well, while staying safe and healthy as this year comes to an end.
The last few months have challenged us as a community. It can be easy to feel helpless in the face of injustice abroad, especially while our own safety feels threatened here at home. But during such times, we can turn to two places to bolster our hope: first and foremost to God, as we look inward into our faith, and secondly, to the communities that bring us closer to Him.
I have countless anecdotes from our students and members of our community who have shared what life has been like over the last couple of months, and how the IC has been a place of solace.
Like you know, the Islamic Center at NYU is proud to provide the kind of space that replenishes our faith when we feel depleted. Through your blessing and support, we continue to serve a diverse community of Muslims, providing light for so many experiencing darkness.
Particularly in a time where being Muslim is difficult in it of itself, minority Muslim groups like the Shia community that I am so privileged to serve encounter other layers of challenges. At the IC, we seek to bridging this gap and creating unique avenues to support everyones' spiritual well-being. With your help, we have created opportunities for learning, growth, and spiritual development through our stewardship of many projects and programs.
