The Zakat Fund of NYC (ZFNYC) is searching for a Director to steward the organizations next chapter.
About ZFYNC: Founded in New York, New York (NYC) in 2017, ZFNYC focuses on delivering
Zakat (the Islamic pillar of almsgiving) to those most in need in New York City. Through grant-making to mission-aligned organizations and direct cash assistance to those in need, ZFNYC aims to channel the Zakat contributions of Muslims in the NYC metro area towards supporting New Yorkers in need.
About The Role: Aspiring to grow our programmatic impact, ZFNYC is searching for a Director to lead the organization. In order to increase impact, the Director will lead a number of initiatives including, but not limited to, strategy planning, execution, staff management, and fundraising (more detail below). The ideal candidate has a track record of getting things done, passion for the ZFNYC mission to support those in-need, and self-starter capabilities. The candidate will report to the Board. Must be based in NYC metro area and willing to travel throughout the NYC metro area. Hybrid role (part remote work, part in-person).
Salary: $80k - $125k
Strategy and Vision Planning
Develop a 1, 3, and 5 year strategy for ZFNYC
Establish annual targets, budgets and milestone accomplishments
Build relationships with other complementary organizations in NYC to inform and refine
ZFNYCs strategy
Board Management
Drive alignment with the Board on key initiatives
Provide effective executive communication to the Board
Operate independently / self-guided
Guide ZFNYCs strategy and execution with support from the Board
Community Relations
Conduct outreach to raise awareness of Zakat funds and application opportunities to
community members, community based organizations, and social service providers
across the NYC metropolitan area
Work closely with partner organizations for distribution of funds
Network with organizations and community leaders to identify collaboration opportunities
and raise awareness of Zakat funds and services
Manage data for reporting
Fundraising
Drive ZFNYC fundraising efforts (email, website, event, organizational collaboration, etc)
Set and achieve annual fundraising targets as defined in the budget
Case Management
Manage staff of part-time case managers (case managers review grant applications from
individuals in need)
Work with case management staff on grant evaluation rubric
Provide impact reporting to Board and supporters
Communications
Donor management and engagement
Prepare program and resource updates for Zakat Fund clients, applicants and
community network
Prepare Board and Management reporting as needed
Preferred Skills
Track record of leadership and ability to execute
Zero hesitation to work at all levels and across domains (Board meeting notes, high level
strategic meetings with NYC organizational leaders, etc)
Ability to work independently and part of a team
