TW: Abuse

There are so many people who reach out to our IC community for help - each one facing an abusive situation.  A wife whose husband neglects her emotionally, has struck her in front of their child, and keeps a hold on her with threats related to her immigration status. A young man whose parents have not believed him every time he's tried to tell them how an uncle assaulted him as a child. A group of teens who can no longer watch their mother be yelled at and beat by the man she's married to. And so many more from our city, different parts of the country and even other parts of the world.

Each one of them is entitled to dreams, aspirations and contentment.  Each one needs wholistic support and services to help them in their situations.  Each one reached out to us.  I am reaching out to you today to honor that request by supporting our work to combat abuse and support survivors with. a zakat-eligible/tax-deductible contribution at https://www.pillarsofpeace.org/donate.

Together We Can: Donate To Help End Domestic Violence Today

Members of the IC community started Pillars of Peace in order to help survivors of abuse of all backgrounds. Every week, both the IC and the Pillars team have been contacted by multiple survivors of abuse looking for support. Elderly women, mothers with children, young people being forced into marriage, and so many more looking for a way out.

Domestic Violence is haraam - clear and simple.

Our challenge today is to move beyond simple rhetoric and live our faith. Even if we as individuals are not ourselves committing this vile act of injustice, we are helping perpetuate it by remaining quiet, standing by, and not helping those in need.

In the United States, an average of 20 people experience intimate partner physical violence every minute. This equates to more than 10 million abuse victims annually.

Why it Matters

Whether we talk about it or not, it is common knowledge that domestic violence is a big problem in many of our communities. Our hope at Pillars of Peace is to get each of us to take a look at our own hearts and ask ourselves what is compelling us to stand by and allow these atrocities to continue? Join us and make a contribution at https://www.pillarsofpeace.org/donate to help continue our work as advocates and supporters for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.

How You Can Help

Give whatever you can. Whether it's $1, $5 ... $5000, every bit will make a difference. And please keep our sisters and brothers in your thoughts and prayers. May Allah reward you for your generosity and give you and your loved ones only the best in this world and in the next. Ameen.
