ISK Policy Updates: Food, Kitchen & Overnight Use
Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
The Islamic Society of Kingston (ISK) has recently adopted three key policiestheFood & Vendor Policy, theOvernight Stay Policy, and theKitchen Use Policyto protect the safety, well-being, and operational integrity of our community and facilities.
Food & Vendor Policy
This policy ensures that all food sales and vendor activities conducted on ISK property comply with public health regulations and align with our community values. As events and community engagement increase, this policy is essential to minimize potential liability risks related to food safety, maintain consistent standards, and ensure all vendors are properly approved and accountable.

Overnight Stay Policy
To safeguard ISK property and promote the responsible use of our facilities, this policy prohibits unsanctioned overnight stays. This restriction helps mitigate liability risks, ensures compliance with fire and building codes, and reinforces responsible use of ISK spaceswhile still allowing for exceptional cases with proper authorization.

Kitchen Use Policy
Because the ISK kitchen is not commercially certified, this policy restricts unauthorized use and prohibits cooking activities. It aims to prevent risks associated with food preparation in non-certified facilities and ensures compliance with KFL&A Public Health guidelines. This also helps minimize legal liability for the organization while maintaining safety standards for our community.

Together, these policies form a necessary framework to responsibly manage the growing needs of our congregation while upholding safety, legal compliance, and the values of the Islamic Society of Kingston.
These policies will also be available on our website soon, inshaAllah.
