The leadership of MCCP/Masjid Tauheed and the Board of Trustees are honored to announce, with deep gratitude to Allah (SWT), the appointments of Imam Abdul Lateef Animashaun as our new Imam and Imam Mbye Bubacarr Jagne as our new Assistant Imam.
Imam Abdul Lateef Animashaun, born in Lagos, Nigeria, earned a Bachelor of Science in Insurance from the University of Lagos in 2007. He was an active leader in the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), serving in multiple leadership roles and as a Rattibi Imam at Lagos Mainland Central Mosque. Since relocating to the United States in 2010, Imam Abdul Lateef has been an engaged member of the Muslim Community Center of Portland (MCCP), delivering khutbahs and lectures at MCCP and Masjid Medina in Vancouver, WA. For the past 15 years, he served faithfully as Assistant Imam to the late Imam Muhammad Najieb and has led the community as Acting Imam since Imam Najiebs passing.
Assistant Imam Mbye Bubacarr Jagne, originally from Brikama, The Gambia, served as a police officer before arriving in the U.S. in 1995. He earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronic Engineering from Seattle Community College and later attended the Oregon Institute of Technology. Since 2021, he has served as an Imam at Masjid Noor and Masjid Medina in Vancouver, WA, and as a religious leader for the Senegambian community in Portland and Vancouver. He began delivering monthly khutbahs at MCCP in 2023 at the invitation of the late Imam Muhammad Najieb and was formally invited to join MCCP/ Masjid Tauheeds leadership team in 2024.
We are blessed to welcome Imam Abdul Lateef Animashaun and Assistant Imam Mbye B. Jagne to their official roles. May Allah (SWT) grant them wisdom, sincerity, and strength as they lead and serve our community.
