American Islamic College Congratulates the Indonesian Delegation for Completing "Religion, Peace, and Encounter: An AIC Certificate Program in Interreligious Peacebuilding"
On December 18th, 2024, a 5-year MOU was signed between the American Islamic College and the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs for interfaith and cross-cultural education and peacebuilding. This came after the first group of Indonesian delegates completed their 2-month course at AIC.
Congratulations to the participants of the Micro-credential course in Religion, Peace, Encounter: A Certificate in Interreligious Peacebuilding at American Islamic College! Over the past two months, you have engaged in transformative interfaith and intrafaith encounters, challenging academic readings and discussions, hands-on learning experiences in Chicago, South Bend, and Washington, DC, and enriching dialogues with scholars and activists who have expanded your range of vision deepened your understanding of religion, interfaith relations, and peacebuilding -- all core principles of the Dr. Shakeela & Dr. Zia Hassan Institute for Interfaith Encounter at AIC. We celebrate your commitment to seeking knowledge, engaging in dialogue, and promoting peace in our broken but interconnected world. As you return to Indonesia and resume your professional lives, we are confident that you will share the wisdom you have gained and continue to build bridges of peace, understanding, and constructive collaboration, in sha' allah.
Your laughter, joy, sincerity, and infectious love of learning have touched our hearts and enriched us all at the American Islamic College. We thank you for whole-heartedly sharing your knowledge and Pesantren experience as teachers, scholars, principals, and journalists. We also thank the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), The Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion at the University of Notre Dame, USAID, and so many Chicago community partners (too numerous to name here but all deeply appreciated), who collaborated with AIC to make this program such a success.
Finally, we are deeply moved by your heartfelt and beautiful gift of poetry and song, which you crafted and performed for us as an interweaving of Pesantren tradition with the AIC experience. May our stories continue to interweave and support one another!
With heartfelt appreciation, eternal friendship, and unceasing prayers for God's peace and blessings,
Your AIC Family
