Assalamu Alaikum Community Members,

Since its inception in 2016, EIC Weekend Islamic Schools mission has been to provide quality Islamic education and equip our children with the knowledge they will need to feel comfortable in non-islamic settings and feel proud to be Muslims. It has been our goal to set up a stress free environment focused on learning where children can have fun and make lifelong friendships along the way.

As our community continues to grow exponentially, so are the challenges and the needs. In response to this, after synthesising feedback from our current families and after reviewing different options, the new leadership team is pleased to announce the following changes to our programs that will take effect from 2025-2026 school year.

Saturday School

  1. We are adding 6th grade to the Saturday School. This means that all the current 5th graders will now move on to this newly added class.

  2. We will also be removing 7th and 8th grades from the Friday Youth Class. These two grades will now combine to form a Middle School Youth class led by local and visiting Scholars

  3. For K-6 grades, school will now start at 10:30 am (previously 11:20am) and run until 1:15 pm. Each of the three classes will be 45 mins with a Lunch Break between 2nd and 3rd periods.

  4. 7th and 8th grade Youth Class timings will be from 12pm - 1:15pm.

  5. School will remain Open during the month of Ramadan until the 20th of the month. However, school timings will be adjusted to 11:45 am to 1:15pm.

  6. Zuhr prayer will now be a formal part of the school curriculum for K-8 grades.

  7. School will be strictly in-person. No remote access will be provided.

  8. Parents volunteering will be mandatory. A signup sheet will be provided with options to choose from different volunteering needs.

Friday Youth Class

  1. This group will now only include High School kids 9th - 12th grades.

  2. The class format will change to Halaqa where there will be open discussions on a rotating weekly topic based on a drawing of student suggestions.

  3. Boys and Girls Halaqa will be separated and led by Male and Female leaders respectively. These leaders will be known Youth figures and Scholars who are experienced in leading such Halaqa.

  4. Once a month, Boys and Girls classes will come together for a lecture by local and visiting Scholars.

  5. These Halaqa will continue to be held on Friday evenings. Timings will vary depending upon the Daylight savings.

  6. Halaqa will be strictly in-person. No remote access will be provided.

Early registration for existing families will be open May 18th 2025, while General/ New families registration will start May 25th. Please be on the lookout for a separate communication with details on May 17th 2025 for early registration and May 24th for General/ New Families registration.
