Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

We hope this message finds you well.

As a board, we want to address a matter of significant importance and express our deepest apologies to all members of our community. It has come to our attention that there is widespread concern and discomfort regarding the decision to plan an Interfaith event while the ongoing genocide in Gaza continues to unfold.

We want to acknowledge and sincerely apologize for the insensitivity and oversight in the initial planning. We deeply regret any distress or hurt that this decision may have caused amongst our community members, particularly those who are directly impacted by the atrocities occurring in Gaza.

We understand and appreciate the gravity of the situation and the profound impact it has had on the hearts and minds of our community. As leaders, it is our responsibility to listen to the voices of our community members and to act with compassion, empathy and integrity.

In light of the feedback we have received and the current circumstances we have made the decision to cancel the Interfaith event this Saturday. We believe this is the right course of action to take at this time, as we prioritize solidarity, empathy, and support for those affected by the ongoing violence and injustice.

We want to assure you that we are committed to learning from this experience and to taking proactive steps to ensure that our future events and initiatives are more mindful, inclusive, and sensitive to the concerns and needs of our community.

Our community is an integral part of a larger interconnected world. We recognize the importance of reaching out and building strong relationships with allies in other faith groups. It is through these connections that we can be good neighbors, foster dialogue, and continue our efforts in bridge-building with those who share our living space. Active involvement and input from our community are essential in this endeavor. By engaging with others and prioritizing meaningful relationships, we can ensure that our actions align with our values and contribute positively to our shared goals of understanding, harmony, and cooperation.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support, understanding, and engagement as we navigate through these challenging times together.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your voices are important to us, and we are committed to listening and learning from you.

Jazak Allah Khair for your understanding and support.

Warm regards,

IALFM Board of Directors
