***Important Message to the Community From The Exec Committee***

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
**IMPORTANT Message to the community**
From the ISK executive committee.
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahamtu Allah wa Barakatu.
Alhamdulillah the muslim community in Kingston is growing rapidly. With that growth also comes a rapid increase for demands on the only islamic centre in the city. There are two general types of demands being placed on the community as a whole. The first is to fulfil communal demands such as all the prayers, Islamic education, infrastructure, and general community social activities. The second set of demands are for personal fulfilment such as individual religious practice, sense of volunteerism of all sorts, basic financial assistance and individual projects for mental health.
The primary responsibility of the volunteer elected executive committee is to balance all these demands. That is why policies have been made and will continue to made to address the balance of these priorities. We know that It is not always clear to all people all the time why certain decisions are made and why their personal priority is not addressed. The executive team is working on communicating on key issues to affected people and through weekly announcements on all events. We ask that all members of the community understand the balance of the priorities and respectfully ask if they need clarification.
For clarification, below are some policies that have to be reinforced because of continuous issues. For everyones sake please pay attention to them:
1. All activities inside and outside the centre or in the name of the Islamic Society of Kingston have to be coordinated and specifically approved by the executive committee. Always in writing through electronic or paper means. If not given explicit permission from the executives, it cannot be presumed that it is OK. For example the activity in the garden outside does not have permission to continue because it was not coordinated with written permission.
2. Masjid property (ie tables, chairs, community centre space) requires specific permission to be used or borrowed. As already noted, previously, if you have borrowed chairs and tables, return them right away. Any one wishing to ask, it must be done through Br Tariq, the centre coordinator.
3. Parking cars/trucks overnight is only for extreme emergencies on the centre property and the parking behind the house, which the society owns. If, for extreme emergencies, written permission must be obtained from the executives. Any other personal vehicles, will be towed at the owners expense within 48 hours.
4. In order to keep the property garbage free, no other personal property can be left at the masjid or the centre without coordinating with the Centre coordinator if it is actually of use to the centre. It will be thrown out without notice.
5. The kitchen is for community use by everyone. Leftovers should be taken home and not just left in the fridge for possible future use. The Quran classes and Saturday school use it as well. It must remain clean. If a group does not cleanup after themselves, they will be banned from its use.
JazakAllah
ISK Executive Team.
