Weve got something special coming up thisThursday, June 19th aJuneteenth Interfaith Gatheringthat brings together faith, history, and community.

Well be joined byRev. Selena Blackwell, and the focus will be on how our faiths call us to speak up for freedom and justice values deeply rooted in our tradition. Ill be sharing a few reflections from theQuran and Sunnahon the importance of standing up against oppression whether in the time of the Prophet , inPalestine today, or right here in America, where so many are stillunjustly imprisoned.

Well meet atIFN for Ar at 6:15 PM, then head over toViking Parkaround 6:45 PM. From there, well take a short walk with our Christian and interfaith neighbors to ahistorical site in Lake County where people can reflect and read about how enslaved people found freedom right here locally.

Its a powerful moment to remember thatsome of the earliest Muslims in America were Black Muslims, brought here through slavery and their legacy of faith and resistance still inspires us today.

Well wrap up witha light outdoor dinner and time to connectwith each other.
