ICSJ Executive Committee Updates & Election!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
 
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatahu,
 
InshaAllah, the elections for Executive Committee of the Islamic Center of South Jersey will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 1:30 pm during the General Body meeting. All fully-paid members are requested to attend the meeting and be part of these proceedings. These elections will be conducted by the Board of Trustees.
 
In lieu of mailing the nomination form, this email is being sent 45 days in advance of the election date. In accordance with the constitution of the Islamic Center of South Jersey, each fully-paid member is requested to submit their nominations to the Board of Trustees (BOT) no later January 11, 2025.
 
Further, in accordance with the constitution of the Islamic Center of South Jersey, the individual being nominated for any position in the Executive Committee must meet the following criteria.
 

1. The individual is self-empowered and demonstrates accountability in a voluntary work environment.
2. The individual has had an active voluntary role in the working of the Center.
3. The individual is willing to dedicate the requisite time to the work of the Center on a day-to-day basis.
4. The individual can deal with criticism effectively and constructively.
5. The individual has been a member of the Center for the past 12 months.
6. The individual must not be a member of the Board of Trustees.

 
A simple majority vote of at least 25% of the fully-paid members will decide the election, as subject to the quorum requirements of Article VI, para 5 of the constitution. Both the fully-paid member proposing the nomination(s) and the nominee must attend the election proceedings in order to be considered in the process of election. No individual shall be elected in absentia. This requirement may be waived in emergencies and special circumstances, as approved by the BOT. In the case of a tie for any position, a re-vote shall be taken by the members present.
