ICNA speaks out against the starvation affecting Gaza.
Dear,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) strongly condemns the deliberate starvation of the people of Gaza as a weapon of war.
For more than five months, a suffocating blockade has cut off food, water, medicine, and lifesaving supplies to over two million people in Gazamost of them women and children. What began as a genocide by bombs and bullets has turned into a genocide by starvation, in full view of the world.
As people of faith, we acknowledge that every blessingour wealth, our food, our securityis from Allah Almighty and with blessings come responsibilities. Gratitude is not only words on the tongue; it is action in service of justice and protection of the oppressed.
ICNA stresses that starvation is not only a moral outrage; it is a crime under international law, condemned by the Geneva Conventions, and a violation of every standard of human decency.
ICNA calls on:
- World leaders and governments to immediately lift the blockade and allow unrestricted access to food, water, medicine, and humanitarian aid for Gaza.
- The U.S. government, as a nation with influence, to end all support that enables these war crimes.
- Our members and all people of conscience to raise their voices, write their representatives, participate in peaceful advocacy, and pray for the people of Gaza.
- Every believer to remember the words of the Prophet SAS:
Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if with half a date.(Bukhari)
No effort is too small when lives are at stake.
The cries of starving children reach the heavens. We pray for them:
O Allah, feed their hungry, clothe their bare, heal their sick, and remove affliction from them.
Allah SWT grant them relief, victory, and peace.
Allah Almighty reminds us in the Quran:
Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a god with Allah? Little do you take heed. (27:62)
