AssalamualaikumDear Community Members,
InshaAllah, the projected first day of fasting is Monday, March 11. While other details will be sent out later, for planning purposes, we wanted to go ahead and share information about iftar plans at HIC.
This year, we have decided to do things a little differently, especially for weekdayiftars, and we hope that you will have patience with us as we try this new way!
Please see key details below:
- Saturday and Sundays will be community iftars as usual; everyone is invited and encouraged to come.
- There will be NO potluck iftars except for March 15th (mark your calendars); this will be a special community potluck iftar where we will also do our Youth Room reveal! Br. Zubair will be in town inshAllah and we also hope to have a youth qiyaam night.
- Weekday iftars will only be for students, travelers, and single people. These will be boxed dinners.
- Host families for weekday iftars are expected to prepare 50 individual boxes of food; while we prefer that sponsors pre-package the meals, we understand that it might not always be feasible. Please let us know in advance if you are willing to cook food and/or donate money but cannot make the iftar boxes; we will work with you to find a solution.
- Boxes should be delivered to the masjidat least one hour before iftar time.
- If possible, we encourage you to provide a small bottle of water and dates with your meal; everything else is left to your discretion!
Keep in mind that ultimately our goal is to reduce costs, lessen the burden on volunteers and HIC support staff, and limit food wastage inshaAllah!

May Allah guide us to make the best use of our time in this blessed month! We pray especially for our brothers and sisters in Gaza for a peaceful Ramadan! Aameen.
Sincerely,
