Do you know anyone who’s been at Dar-us-Salaam since the very beginning?

Brother Mustafa Belgrave joined the Dar-us-Salaam community back when it started as a new revert who had just accepted Islam. At the time, he was only 22 years old!

“A group of us had newly taken the Shahadah in the mid-90’s, and it was a vibrant time for the Muslim community. We used to attend Jumuah at Muslim Community Center (MCC), which is where we met Imam Safi and heard about him starting Al-Huda School in 1995. Imam Safi never shunned us away, and he always answered our questions. I would attend his tafseer sessions. Just being around the Muslims and seeing how they were building community impacted me. Once you become a Muslim, you’re out in the dark and the path can get lonely. Having this new sense of community really helped through that time.”
