Were grateful to share updates on our events, programs, and ongoing construction efforts this month. Your support enables us to offer meaningful events, address community needs, and work toward the growth and development of MCC facilities.
Heres what happened in October:
Your Contributions in Action
- Forbidding Domestic Oppression Talk (Oct. 4): During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Imam Tahir Anwar and a team from NISA, the Bay Areas Muslim domestic violence shelter, led a critical discussion on standing against domestic oppression. We hosted over 200 people for dinner and the talk, creating a safe space to address this essential yet often unspoken topic.
- Screening of Ahmed Alive Documentary (Oct. 7): One year after the ongoing crisis in Palestine, we gathered as a community to view Ahmed Alive, a 37-minute film showcasing Gaza resident Ahmad Ghunaims life as a content creator turned war journalist. The screening was followed by a discussion with one of the filmmakers.
- Monthly Sisterhood Halaqa Relaunch (Oct. 10): Ustadha Hosai Mojaddidi led a powerful monthly Sisterhood Halaqa, a safe space for women to reflect, discuss, and support each other. This ongoing program will continue virtually and in person.
- Know Your Rights Workshop with CAIR-SFBA (Oct. 19): In collaboration with CAIR San Francisco, teens and adults joined a practical workshop on handling identity-based harassment and discrimination amid rising anti-Palestinian sentiment.
- From the Dream to the Throne Workshop (Oct. 26): In partnership with the Miftaah Institute, Mufti Abdul Wahab Waheed led an insightful session on the story of Prophet Yusuf (AS) and its lessons of patience, resilience, and Divine decree.
- Quarterly MCC Board Meeting (Oct. 30): Our Board of Directors held a meeting to share updates on renovations, finances, programming, and MCCs vision for the future. Community members were able to review and discuss MCCs goals and direction.
- Fall Festival for Kids (Oct. 31): For the eighth year, MCC hosted 400+ children for wholesome family fun.
Construction Update - Package 1
MCC has been in a hyper-incremental mode for many years, and we are now ready to enter hyper-growth mode. That begins this year!

After overcoming delays from changes in city planning staff, all newly requested requirements for Package 1 have been completed, and comments were submitted three weeks ago. Once planning approval is granted, the building permit process can begin (estimated 34 weeks). Were hopeful of starting construction this December or January, inshaAllah, with plans to complete the project by Ramadan '25, weather permitting.

Package 1 includes a picnic area, trellis, BBQ area, full-size basketball court, par course, outdoor wad stations, a childrens play structure, and open playfield and EV charging stations. Learn more
