Asalamu-a’laykum dear brothers and sisters,
In these last blessed days of Ramadan, I write to you to convey my greetings and to ask for your continued support for the Muslim Society of the Delaware Valley (MSDV).
Reflecting over the past ten years, we can truly rejoice at what MSDV has accomplished with Allah’s blessings and your support. In 2015, we established the Muslim Youth Center of Philadelphia. In 2017, the Islamic Cultural Center of Willow Grove was launched. In 2021, Imam Basheer joined the organization as its first full time Imam. In 2023, we formed the school committee and hired staff. In 2024, Nibras Day School, the first full time Islamic school in the immediate Philadelphia suburbs, was launched.
During this time, MYCP and ICCWG have had a transformative impact in our communities. While we often showcase our core work of youth engagement, fostering fellowship and providing religious services and education, I will point out two aspects of our organization’s charitable efforts that highlight its unique and dynamic nature. Every year, we distribute close to $100,000 in Zakat and Sadaqa to help those in need in our local community. The demand for this support has skyrocketed recently due to changes introduced by the Trump administration in policies impacting immigration and refugee resettlement. Similarly, over the past year and a half as the crisis and genocide in Gaza has continued, nearly two million dollars masha-Allah have been collected at our centers for humanitarian aid. These I believe are remarkable achievements that indicate the potential within our community and highlight the unique work of our organization.
Much work needs to be done as we continue to inshallah chart an ambitious path forward for our organization and community. We are in the final stages of signing a purchase agreement for a 15,000 square foot building that will house the future middle and high school portions of Nibras Day School. Over the past two months, MYCP underwent the first phase of renovation. Plans for an expansion, which include adding a gymnasium and additional class room space, are under review with the City of Philadelphia. Similarly, plans for renovation at ICCWG are under review by the township.
Our Ramadan fundraising goal is $350,000. This funding is needed to help support MSDV’s operational expenses throughout the year. I humbly request your financial support as well as your dua and personal involvement. I hope you consider making either a one time or recurring monthly donation. Your donation is handled with great care as financial transparency and organizational accountability are key values for MSDV. May Allah shower us with His blessings and grant us His pardon and protection.
Your brother,
Eyad Takiedine,
