General Assembly Meeting and Elections

Dear ISAK Member,

As-salmu alaykum!

The Islamic Society of Akron and Kent (ISAK) will hold its General Assembly (GA) Meeting and Elections on Saturday, December 7, at the Islamic Community Center. The meeting will begin after Maghrib prayers at 5:15 pm, inshAllh. Following the meeting, a complimentary dinner will be served. The event is open to all ISAK General and Active members ages 16 and above. Complimentary childcare for ages five and under will be available during the event.
 
Agenda Highlights:

• Introduction of the slate of nominees for the ISAK Board of Directors and Board of Trustees.
• Elections for the open positions.
• Vote on Proposed Amendments to ISAKs Consitution & Bylaws.

 Election Announcement:

1. The elections will take place during the ISAK General Assembly meeting. Please see the GA meeting agenda for further details. Balloting will be conducted between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM.
2. The Election Committee will accommodate voters with extenuating circumstances on Friday, December 6, 2024, immediately after the Jumu'ah prayer in the conference room**.**
3. There will be both women and men polling officers present to identify voters and hand out ballots.
4. All voting members should bring a government-issued photo ID.
5. Absentee or proxy ballots are not permitted.
6. The slate of nominees will be introduced at the GA meeting.

 Open Positions, Nominees, and Duties:
Board of Directors (2-Year Term)

1. President
   1. Mekki Bayachou
   2. Issam Halawi
      Duties: Serve as the spokesperson for the Society; manage all activities, including facility maintenance; call General Assembly and Board of Directors meetings; and sign checks on behalf of the Society.
2. Finance Director
   1. Abdelkader Adjiri
   2. Mohammad Hamad
      Duties: Act as Treasurer; manage finances, budgets, bookkeeping, and membership records; prepare financial reports; and sign checks.
3. Education Director
   1. Parvez Ahmad
   2. Marwa Sadalla
      Duties: Oversee educational programs, including ISAK Sunday school.
4. Social Activities Director
   1. Nodirjon Akihirov
   2. Cevat Bagcioglu
      Duties: Organize social activities, including Ramadan Iftars, Eid events, interfaith dinners, and community gatherings.
5. Community Welfare Director
   1. Jamal Hussein
   2. Imran Minhas
      Duties: Promote volunteerism, address community welfare needs, manage the cemetery, and implement welfare programs.

 Board of Trustees (7-Year Term Two Open Positions)

   Duties: Manage and protect the Society's assets; oversee major financial transactions; approve budgets; and manage long-term investments.
