Ramadan Workshop Tomorrow
Jumuah Mubarak to our dear brothers and sisters.
Taqwa is the essence and ultimate purpose of fasting. It is not merely an act of physical restraint but a means of spiritual awakening. Fasting is meant to transform, not just deprive. It is a shieldprotecting us from heedlessness, sin, and theunchecked desires of the nafs (lower self).
Each day, as we resist the simple act of eating and drinking, we are exercising something far greater: the strength to say no to our lower desires and yes to the call of Allah.
As we restrain our bodies, our souls remember their true hungerthe longing to draw closerto Allah. The pangs of hunger and thirst remind us that true sustenance does not lie in what we consume, but in the remembrance of Allah, in the nourishment of His guidance, in the tranquility of a heart aligned with His will.
"O believers! Fasting is prescribed for youas it was for those before youso perhaps you will become mindful of Allah."
Quran 2:183
Fasting cultivates this deep awareness of Allahs presence. You could easily eat in secret, yet you refrainnot out of fear of people, but out of mindfulness of the One who sees all.
"And whoever is mindful of Allah, He will make a wayout for them, and provide for them from sources they could never imagine."
Quran 65:2-3
These words remind us that taqwa not only guides us through lifes trials but also blesses us with an inner peace that transcends hardship. Through fasting, we relinquish our dependence on fleeting comforts of this world and, instead, place our trust in the boundless mercy and wisdom of Allah.
Let taqwa be the lens through which we perceive every moment, the compass that guides our actions, the heartbeat of our worship. Let Ramadan be a month of renewalnot just of routine, but of the soul. A time when fasting becomes more than abstentionit becomes a path to clarity, a rekindling of faith, a return to the One who is alwaysnear.
