Extension Project Mobilization

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahamatullahi wa barakatuh,

We hope and pray everyone is doing well, and we pray that you had a wonderful Eid Weekend.  May Allah (SWT) continue to shower countless blessings upon all of you, Ameen.

We wanted to provide important updates with regards to the extension project as we are going to be starting mobilization work on the site starting today, InshahAllah. As a result, fencing will be installed to segment the construction zone, and you will see increased truck activity (coming in and out of the property) as well as material deliveries.

Parking

Parking will still be available on-site but will be significantly reduced, as the back parking lot and the grassy area near the swing set will be fully fenced off for construction. The accessible parking spots will also be relocated, as the current spots will be impacted.

To assist with parking constraints, we are arranging a shuttle service from the Cataraqui Arena to the mosque for Friday prayers. You may park at the arena and take the shuttle to and from the mosque. Further details on this arrangement will be shared before this coming Friday.

On-site parking attendants will direct traffic to designated parking areas. However, if you plan to drive to the mosque, we strongly encourage:

  • Carpooling
  • Arriving early (once capacity is reached, the lot will close)

If parking is full, you may need to:

  • Attend the second Jumuah prayer
  • Pray at one of the alternate locations weve previously communicated (we will continue sharing updates on these options).

Important Safety Reminders 

  1. Please be extremely careful and attentive to all directional signage on the property when visiting the mosque. The traffic will need to move in one direction only due to the volume of trucks coming in and out of the property and to ensure safety protocols with traffic management within the designated parking areas.
  2. The area where the work will be occurring will be fenced off, starting just after the side entrance and going all the way to the back parking lot. This area will not be accessible during the construction timeframe over the coming year. Therefore, all attendees at the mosque MUST adhere to the signage on the property to ensure no unauthorized persons access construction or restricted areas.
  3. When on-site, please ensure that your children are not wandering the property alone, as there will be many dangerous areas with large equipment and large holes on the grounds due to digging. It is critical that we do everything we can to protect our children as well as all community members and visitors. We must all be vigilant, inshaAllah.

This coming year will present its challenges without a doubt, but as a community, this is where we need to pull together through patience, collaboration, and unity to ensure that we complete this project successfully.
