Muslim Parenthood Series
Program details:
Muslim Parenthood Series is a free new series of monthly talks dedicated for Muslim parents and parents to be. We will carefully craft topics, talks, and interactive activities for parents to promote education and family engagement in a safe environment. In these sessions, parents will hear from community, social, and subject matter experts and researchers, share their experiences and best practices (if they feel comfortable), and ask questions.

Profile: Dr. Hanan Hashem is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Department at William James College in Newton, Massachusetts, where she specializes in teaching topics concerning cultural considerations in the field of psychology and lifespan development. Dr. Hanan Hashem is also a Researcher and Community Educator at The Family and Youth Institute. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, a Masters degree in Quantitative Methods, and a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. Dr. Hashem is also a community organizer and has focused her efforts on community education and mental health consultancy through local youth groups, regional camps, and national conferences, including the Muslim Mental Health Conference. Dr. Hashem is also the Founder of Hey Hashem (heyhashem.com), where she provides mental health services and consultations, as well as takes community engagement requests.

Profile: Yasmeen Baajour graduated with her Masters degree from Mercer University as the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and is currently an Associate Professional Counselor at The Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center. Her specialties include emotion regulation, stress management, self-esteem building, relationship coaching, and coping with anxiety and depression. She has worked with parents and their children for several years, understanding how essential it is for parents to project confidence as authority figures and for kids to feel they have a solid support system that fosters their growth and development.
