Asslam Alaikum, Dear ICM Community:
We are strongly recommending that each one of us who is eligible to vote should vote. Events leading up to this election have been extremely difficult and heavy on our hearts and minds. However, these are exactly the reasons that we double our efforts to engage and exercise our rights. Discussion, debate, and disagreement are all good but inaction is not!
Whether you vote your conscience, vote based on recommendations from trusted sources, your own analysis, or deciding between lesser of evils, that is all good - BUT DON'T SIT OUT - GO OUT AND VOTE!
Remember that how we vote is not public information but whether we voted or not is information available to all including those who influence the politics and policies. When we vote in large numbers we accumulate weight as a voting block - particularly in tight races - and that by the Will of Allah will make the difference and bring change!
LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST, pay special attention to your local candidates including Board of Education, and any questions on the ballot up for voting. These candidates and questions are the ones that affect our matters the most.
So, walk in to your polling place with your head high wearing your hijab, kufi, keffiyeh, .... and CAST YOUR VOTE!
