How to Pray Eid Prayer
1. Eid prayer is performed with no adhan or iqama.
2. It is two raka'at (units of prayer) recited aloud similar to Jummuah prayer.
3. The first rak'ah begins with 7 takbirs, the second rak'ah (after standing back up) will begin with 5 takbirs.
4. The Eid Khutbah begins after the prayer (if you leave after salah during the khutbah, please do so quietly without disturbing others).
Do I have to attend Jummuah after Eid Prayer on a Friday?
When the day of Eid coincides with Friday, then whoever prays Eid with the Imam does not have to attend Jummuah (it is not obligatory on him); in his case it becomes Sunnah. If he does not pray Jummuah, he has to pray Dhuhr. Therefore, there will not be Jummuah at Collins Rd this Friday, only Eid salah.
Eid Sunnahs & Etiquettes
1. Reciting the Takbir, which can be as follows:
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa Lillahil-hamd (Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is none worthy of worship except Allah, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allah).
2. Making ghusl (bathing).
3. Wearing your best clothes.
4. Congratulating each other by saying things like, "Eid Mubarak" or "Taqabbala Allah minna wa minkum (May Allah accept from us and from you).
5. Going to the prayer by one route and returning by another.
6. Celebrate! (As is customary in a halal way, like exchanging gifts, eating together, etc.)
Days of Tashreeq
While Eid al-Adha is the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the 11th, 12th, and 13th days are the Days of Tashreeq. The Prophet said concerning the days of Tashreeq: They are days of eating, drinking and remembering Allah.
The Prophet forbade fasting on these days.
