PGMA proudly announces Sister Lena Hassen's appointment as our organization's new Operations Manager and Sisters' Youth Director.
Background and Education
Sister Lena was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and has spent much of her life in the Maryland-DC-Virginia metropolitan area. She holds an Associate of Arts from Prince George's Community College, a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from the University of Maryland, and a Doctorate from King Saud University.
Her Islamic education began at a young age in Saudi private schools. She furthered her studies through programs with AlMaghrib, Bayyinah, and Alim institutes, as well as attending lectures and study circles of respected scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah.
Community Involvement and Experience
Sister Lena has been actively engaged in local Muslim communities, demonstrating a commitment to empowering young adults. She taught Islamic studies at AlHuda and An-Nur Academies and wasa board member in various Muslim Student Associations. Additionally, she coached high school students for Muslim Interscholastic Tournaments at PGMA and managed community initiatives at the Muslim Community Center.
Role and Responsibilities
In her role at PGMA, Sister Lena will focus on streamlining and managing masjid operations and programs. She will also mentor young sisters, fostering spiritual and personal development.
