Dhul Hijjah Info

Assalaamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

Dhul Qadah 29, 1446 H

"Giving away something in charity does not cause any decrease in a person's wealth, but increases it instead. The person who adopts humility for the sake of Allah is exalted in ranks by Him". (Muslim)

Dhul Hijjah starts Tomorrow and Eid-ul-Adha is on June 6th

On behalf of everyone at ICR, we ask Allah to bless you and your family, your homes and business with harmony, peace and prosperity on this joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

The National Hilal sighting committee confirmed that there were mass sightings of the moon across East Coast of USA and determined that the Month of Dhul Hijjah starts tomorrow, 5/28.

**Based on Moonsighting, 1st Dhul Hijjah 1446 is on May 28th 2025.

Yaumul Arafah (Dhul Hijjah 9th, 1446) will be on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, Insha Allah.

Eid ul Adha (Dhul Hijjah 10th, 1446) will be Friday, June 6th, 2024, Insha Allah.**

Ibn Abbas [May Allah be Pleased with him] reports that the Messenger of Allaah (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these days [meaning the ten days of Dhul Hijjah]." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allaah, not even striving in the way of Allaah?" He said, "Not even striving, except for the man who puts his life and wealth in danger [for Allaah's sake] and returns with neither of them." [Bukhaari]

Recommended Voluntary Acts of Worship: Fasting on the first 9 days of Dhul-Hijjah including The Day of Arafah [9th Dhul-Hijjah], Performing night prayers [Tahajjud], Glorifying Allah [Dhikr] and Supplications [Duas].

ICR's Moon Sighting Policy

ICR, since its inception, has been following the policy of relying on the actual moon sighting information from National Hilal Sighting organizations like Central Hilal Committee, Chicago Hilal sighting committee, Shariah Board Chicago/Newyork, & Dar-ul-uloom Buffalo to determine the start and end of all Islamic months. ICR accepts any positive confirmation of Moon sighting from these National organizations and declares the Islamic Months. ICR notifies the community through its website and Newsletter about all important dates based on this policy.

Eid Salat Details
Eid Salat details will be published soon, Insha Allah.

Udhiyah Locations

Zayd lbn Arqam Radhiyallaahu Anhu relates that the Companions Radhiyallaahu Anhum queried, O Rasoolullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, What is Qurbani? He replied, It is the Sunnah of your father lbraheem Alayhis Salaam. They again asked, What benefit do we derive from it? He answered, A reward for every hair (of the sacrificed animal). And (what reward is there for animals with) wool, O Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam)? they asked. A reward, he said, for every fibre of the wool. (Ibne Majah)

**Do not miss this excellent oppurtunity to gain rewards by performing Udhiyah for the sake of Allah and know that it is Wajib (Obligatory) on every adult muslim who has money more than the nisab during these days of sacrifice to perform Udhiyah.

If you are looking for a place to perform Udhiyah, please contact ICR representative and they will be able to guide you.**

Distribution of the meat to the Needy

If you wish to donate the Udhiyah meat to the needy in the community and don't know where to donate, ICR is there to help you. ICR, every year, facilitates the process of distribution of the udhiyah meat to the needy.

Please donate the udhiyah meat at Masjid Yusuf for distribution to the needy.

Significance of the Day of Arafaat

Abu Qatadah al-Ansari (r.a.) relates that Rasulullah (s.a.w.) was asked about the saum (fast) on the day of Arafaat (9th Zhul Hijjah). He said, "It compensates for the minor sins of the past year and the coming year." (MUSLIM)

Let us not miss this opportunity to gain the forgiveness of Allah by fasting on Thursday [June 5th 2025] which happens to be the day of Arafat.

Takbeer of Tashreek

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar. Laa ilaaha illallaahu wallaahu Akbar. Allaahu Akbar walillaahil hamd

Translation: "Allah is most great. Allah is most great. There is no Deity besides Allah and Allah is most Great. Allah is most Great and Verily all praises are for Allah."

It is waajib to recite this Takbeer audibly once after every Fard salah from the morning of the ninth of Dhul Hijjah (Day of Arafah) till the Asr salah of the thirteenth of Dhul Hijjah. The ruling is that the one that performs salah with Jamaa'ah/ congregation, and the one that performs it alone are the same as far as this law is concerned i.e. it is necessary to recite the Takbeer. It is waajib on both male and female. Females should not say the Takbeeraat loudly but softly. It is Mustahab (desirable) for those who pray their salah individually (men or women) and Musafirs (travellers) to recite the Takbeeraat softly.
