Asalaamu-alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
Zakat-ul-Fitr isn’t about money—it’s about community.
The Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was to give Zakat-ul-Fitr as staple food items to local families in need, so that they can enjoy Eid with the rest of us.
Zakat-ul-Fitr Collection
At Dar-us-Salaam, we have been reviving the spirit of this act of worship. We collect food from the community in the large bins at Dar-us-Salaam, and we also collect money which we use to purchase staple food items.
Zakat-ul-Fitr collection is this week from Friday, March 29 to Tuesday, April 2. Drop off your food items in the bins provided near the entrance of Al-Huda School any time between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.!

Zakat-ul-Fitr Distribution
Our volunteers drive to homes across the local area and hand deliver the Zakat-ul-Fitr to families in need in a discrete, honorable way, by leaving bags of food outside their front door. Dar-us-Salaam’s Social Services team Ansaar-ul-Birr calls or texts each family to inform them that their food has been delivered.
