Community Update on Imam Search

Assalamu Alaikum Dear ICOI Community,

 

As previously communicated, the Board of Directors (BoD) would like to update you on the ongoing search for a new Imam for our masjid. We are grateful for your continued support and patience as we work through this important process.

 

We would like to emphasize that there is a dedicated Search Committee that has been meeting regularly and working diligently to find an Imam who is best suited to serve both the needs of our masjid and the larger ICOI community. Several Imams have been approached over the past few months (including most of those in the Visiting Scholars Series), but due to various factors, including the high cost of living in California, there has been limited interest in committing to a full-time role.

 

Additionally,it has become increasingly common for Imams to work as part of a multi-imam team sharing the responsibilities to meet the diverse needs of the community.

 

Please be assured that the BoD and Search Committee are committed to making the best possible decision for ICOI. We are approaching this decision with care, and we want to ensure that the choice we make aligns with the long-term needs of our community. We are not rushing the decision and are exploring all options thoughtfully.

 

In the meantime, we will continue with our Visiting Scholars Series to ensure that our community has access to knowledgeable religious scholars. We believe this will help support and nurture the spiritual and educational needs of our community until we are able to secure the right Imam for ICOI.

 

We ask for your Dua that Allah (SWT) opens the doors for the best Imam to join our community, and that His wisdom guides us to the right decision for ICOI.
