As-Salamu’alaykum Warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Alvi, as he passed away evening of December 21st, 2023.
He was a founding member of our Muslim community who contributed to the establishment of the Islamic Association of Cincinnati as we know it. He was a Doctor of Education, while serving the general Muslim community since immigrating to the Cincinnati area in the 1970’s, through countless responsibilities via the IAC, and otherwise.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Ruqayyia Alvi, four loving children Shaheena Alvi, Nazeena Alvi, Bilal Alvi, and Khalil Alvi, His eight grandchildren (Shaiza Alvi, Sohaib Alvi, Safwan Alvi, Ammar D'Ambrosio, Azim D'Ambrosio, Ilias D'Ambrosio, Daood Alvi, and Ibraheem Alvi. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren Haashim Awan, and Inaaya Awan.
Visitation will be announced once confirmed. Salaat-ul Janazah will be held after the first Jummah prayer at ICGC, which will be immediately followed by burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family requests privacy at this time.
Please make Dua for the departed soul. May Allah SWT shower this beautiful soul with Mercy and grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdaus. May Allah give sabr to the bereaved family, Ameen.
