Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
Dear Valued Members of Our Muslim Community,
As we gather every Friday to observe Jummah, a day of communal prayer and reflection, we want to address an important concern affecting our community's well-being and safety.
We have noticed that the parking situation around our masjid, particularly on Woolper Street, has become a challenge. Cars parked inappropriately are obstructing traffic lanes and creating potential hazards, not only for our members but also for our neighbors [see photos below].
In the spirit of cooperation and respect, we are reaching out to kindly remind everyone to adhere to the parking regulations. We must park our vehicles in designated areas to ensure unobstructed passage for all, including emergency services, which may need access during times of need.
Additionally, our own security team has mentioned that an individual from our community deliberately tried to run them over with his vehicle. “Today, when I was directing traffic at the front gate, I asked a brother of Indian or Pakistan descent to stop. He stopped for a few seconds so I could let the cars out from the masjid, and then he tried to run me over. He was also screaming at me. A couple of weeks ago, when I was trying to help him park, he yelled at me while he was in his car.” - a member of the security team.
We intend to work closely with local authorities to find a solution that accommodates our needs while maintaining public safety. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we navigate these issues together.
