Message from the Imam

Dear Community members,

Peace, blessings and ultimate mercy of Almighty God be upon you

Is it permissible to GREET Muslims and others, with the solar (Gregorian) new year calendar?

Even though, as a student of knowledge, I dont indulge in such minor things
Especially when our survival is at stake (in Ghazzah, Kashmir, Burma, China..etc.)
But Im sharing it only, for the purposes of learning the right from wrong!

Some people with less knowledge, try to call the greetings of new solar year as forbidden, due to (in their opinion) its from a Christian religious calendar!
Adding to it, that Hijrah calendar is the Islamic one!

In fact, both above opinions are false!

Both calendars has no religious authority and were NOT generated by religion itself!!

Now the question, for Muslims specifically,
Does the holy Quran, restrain us, Muslims from using multiple calendars?

The answer is:

Almighty Allah has mentioned both loner and solar calendars year in Surah Kahf, when Allah mentioned the amount of years people of cave slept,
300 years of solar year in counting,
while 309 years of loner years of counting.

Even though, Allah the Almighty mentioned the loners calendar in Surah Taubah describing the 12 loner month along with 4 sacred ones

So Almighty Allah mentioned the solar calendar in Quran as well

Hopefully, we wont argue on such minor issues

Baraka Allah o feekum
