Safar
This year, the month of Safar began on July 26, 2025. Safar is the second month of the Islamic calendar. While it is not one of the four sacred months, it holds historical and spiritual significance. In pre-Islamic times, Safar was wrongly considered a month of bad luck—a superstition the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) firmly rejected. As Muslims, we know that no time is inherently evil or cursed. Instead, this month serves as a continuation of the spiritual momentum built in Muharram, encouraging us to remain steadfast in our worship, acts of charity, and reliance upon Allah (SWT). Many important events in Islamic history occurred during Safar. It was during this month that the Prophet (Pbuh) began the Hijrah from Makkah to Madinah. Safar is a time to renew our intentions and continue seeking nearness to Allah (SWT) through worship, du’a, and serving our communities.
