‘Eid Mubaarak from all of us at the new AIC! Walking in the footsteps of Abraham and Hajar (peace be upon them both) in these days of pilgrimage, we take heart in the knowledge that God has a plan even when our own situations seem hopeless and filled with pain and grief. So let’s take a deep breath, take courage, and ask God to give us firmness in our resolve, clarity in our vision, and the joyful hope that what is to come will be better than all that is now behind.
May God accept the prayers and sacrifice of the pilgrims, and may God accept the prayers and struggles and sacrifices of all of us in this pilgrimage of life as we strive to face the challenges and vicissitudes of this world and make our way home to the One who gave us life, the One who calls us to all that gives life, the One whose merciful, restorative embrace awaits us at the end of the journey.
In particular today, we pray for those sisters and brothers in our human family who are facing unimaginable oppression and violence, those whose bodies and souls are being ravaged by persecution, denigration, and starvation at every level, those who are experiencing a complete erasure of their identity and history. May God shield the living left among them, receive and shelter their deceased with love and mercy, liberate the captives, heal the wounded, comfort the shaken, rebuild the broken, and empower us to intervene in skillful and impactful ways to minimize the suffering and stop the brutality and inhumanity we are witnessing. God calls us all to something better, and it is high time that we, as a human family, started to heed that call.
