Weekly Newsletter June 13th, 7th of Dhul-Hijjah, 1445

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Masjid,

This weekend is the most significant weekend in the year for us! The Day of Arafah is on Saturday, June 15 and Eid-ul-Adha is on Sunday, June 16. Allahu Akbar!

Saturday, the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah), is the most blessed day of the year, where those not performing Hajj are supposed to observe fasting. It is the Day that Allah forgives people in the year, and the day that the pilgrims complete their virtues of Hajj. The Day of Arafah is where our Prophet Mohammed delivered his farewell sermon on his final Hajj. The Prophet remarked on the equality of the human being and that no one is superior to another person, except by Taqwa (those with love & fear of Allah).

Sunday, the Day of Eid-ul-Adha (10th of Dhul-Hijjah), is one of the biggest festivals in the Islamic calendar. Eid-ul-Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's (A.S.) willingness to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah.

These two days teach us that in order to get great success we should be willing to make sacrifices. We should practice being more kind and patient to each other, and support our brothers & sisters globally.  We all know the great and unthinkable sacrifices that our brothers and sisters in Palestine are already making. But, what sacrifices are we willing to make for their (and our collective) success? At the very least we can sacrifice our convenience and comfort in the form of goods that support and fund the genocide, by being part of the effort for targeted economic boycotts. Do your research, put your money towards good use, raise your voice against the wrong and keep making Dua for peace. May Allah (SWT) accept our Ibadaah during these days, and accept the Hajj of all the Muslims who are embarking on this spiritual journey. Aameen!

This will be a busy weekend at Al Falah Center. We begin with our Eid Bazar on Friday evening (support Muslim businesses!), have a Day of Arafah potluck Iftar on Saturday, and an Eid prayer/celebration on Sunday. Scroll down to get all the details!
